Administrative History
Evert Sparks was born at Mound Valley Kansas, and moved to several locations in the United States before coming to the Medicine Hat area to homestead in 1909. Here, he became active with the River Bend UFA Local, and elected Director for Medicine Hat District in 1915-16. In 1919, he moved to a farm southwest of Wetaskiwin and became active with the Lone Ridge UFA Local. Sparks ran in the 1921 election as a UFA candidate in the electoral district of Wetaskiwin, winning the seat. He won another victory in the 1926 Alberta general election, but lost his seat to Liberal candidate Hugh Montgomery.
