Administrative History
In the 1921 Alberta general election, Smith defeated incumbent Assembly Speaker Charles Pringle by a solid majority in the Redcliff electoral district. Smith won his bid for re-election in 1926 in the new district of Empress, and again in 1930. He was defeated in the 1935 general election.
