Administrative History
Henry Elvins Spencer served as a provincial director of the UFA, 1917-1921. He was the member of Parliament for Battle River for the Progressive Party March 1922 - July 1926 and was later re-elected as a member of the UFA party and sat as an MP from December 1926 - August 1935. He acted as party whip for the UFA caucus in the House of Commons. Spencer was an active member of the "Ginger Group," a loose coalition of UFA, Progressive and Labour MP's that formed the socialist left in Parliament.
