Administrative History
Jim Shindler joined UFA in 1953 as a service station attendant, and was transferred to the head office as an accounts payable clerk. In 1954 he joined the Farm Supply division as the second staff member of the Edmonton Farm Supply office. In 1957 Shindler was named the first manager of UFA's Edmonton Farm Supply store. In 1964 Shindler was appointed Operations Manager for the Farm Supply Division and was transferred to Calgary. In 1974, Shindler was appointed Manager of the Farm Supply Division. At the end of 1984, Shindler replaced Bill McCartney as CEO of UFA Cooperative. After 40 years with UFA, Shindler retired in 1993.
