Administrative History
Donald Cameron Sr. was born in Tynult, Scotland. He became a shipbuilder and worked for the British Admiralty in several locations in Britain and the colonies before moving to a homestead in the Elnora area of Alberta in 1906. He became involved in public affairs as a councillor of the Municipal District of Hays, an early member of the United Grain Growers, a charter member of the United Farmers of Alberta and a member of the Alberta Wheat Pool. Donald Cameron ran in the 1921 Alberta general election in the electoral district of Innisfail, winning the seat. He was re-elected in the 1926 and 1930 elections, and retired in 1935 after his third term. Cameron passed away in 1936.
