Item consists of a photograph: sepia, portrait of United Farm Women of Alberta Secretary Frances Bateman.
Administrative History
Frances Bateman worked for 17 years in UFA central office beginning in 1915 as assistant to Herbert Higginbotham. Bateman was appointed acting secretary of the organization in 1923, and acting secretary-treasurer in 1928. From 1929 to early 1933 she also served as secretary for the United Farm Women of Alberta and the UFA Junior Branch. Illness forced her to resign her positions with UFA in January 1933, and she passed away in February of that year. Following her death, the UFWA established the Francis Bateman Memorial Library at UFA head office, which lent books to UFWA locals.
