The fonds consists of meeting notes of Directors' meeting (1969), records of patronage dividends, records of sales, synoptic (1976-1978), records of commissions paid to the Co-op by UFA Co-op and of commissions paid to the manager, manager's reports to the Directors, and a small amount of correspondence.
Iron Springs Oil Co-op Ltd. distributed petroleum products to its members in the hamlet of Iron Springs, in Lethbridge County, Alberta. It was affiliated with the United Farmers of Alberta Co-operative. It was established in 1963 and amalgamated with UFA Co-op in 1977.
The fonds consists of four issues of the Grain Growers' Guide (1909-1913), a blank farm account book (published by Grain Growers' Guide, 1922), and a promotional notebook (ca. 1960).
United Grain Growers Ltd. was formed in 1917 from the amalgamation of the Grain Growers' Grain Company (founded 1906) and the Alberta Farmers' Co-operative Elevator Company (founded 1913). It was headquarted in Winnipeg and had operations across the Prairie region. It was a producers' co-op specializing in marketing grain, but at various times it was also involved in publishing; marketing livestock and specialty crops; and retail sales of farm supplies, coal, feeds, fertilizers, and agricultural chemicals. Its publishing subsidiary, Public Press Ltd., published the Grain Growers' Guide (established in 1908 by the Grain Growers' Grain Company, renamed Country Guide in 1928). In 1992 it became a publicly-traded corporation. In 2001 it acquired Agricore (a corporation formed in 1998 from the amalgamation of Alberta Wheat Pool and Manitoba Pool), and was renamed Agricore United. In 2007 it was acquired by Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. The new firm was named Viterra Inc.and expanded to become a multi-national agri-business.
